Homeschooling is going great. We have the usual I don’t want to do my work issues but it is going well. We are now using Time4Learning for most of his subjects and The Good and Beautiful for math. We are also using Landmark Kids to learn about different countries. I have several games that were given to me that are about geography. We have just started Baketivity. We will get a box each month with ingredients and recipes for baking. I can’t wait for our 1st box to arrive. We are also using Generous Family for Bible lessons. We are also working on life skills.
I have been raising 2 of my grandkids for about a year and a half while their mom was away. She is now back and we are transitioning the kids back to her. She is wanting Matthew to go back to public school, so we may try part time after the Christmas break to see how it goes. He wants to see his friends but doesn’t really want to go back full time. I’m hoping for a compromise. Either way, I will still write about homeschooling.
It will be hard on me since I’ve really enjoyed homeschooling Matthew. We have grown close. I’m happy that mom is back and can’t wait until I get to be just Grandma again. I will happily homeschool Matthew if that’s what he wants and mom agrees, but will support her decision either way. We have been talking about him going back in 6th grade next year anyway. I’m hoping that he can take 1 block at public school and then homeschool the rest this school year. The school has 3 blocks in 5th grade and each one is about 2 hours long. That will be Matthew’s biggest adjustment. He has been finishing all of his schoolwork in less time than that each day.
