We’ve been homeschooling for a month now and Matthew loves it. He did 4th grade work in Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies during March. Since we had to start at the beginning of the year it was extremely easy for him. The first of this month we decided to try 5th grade in all subjects. He was already doing 5th grade Math. He is doing well, and it is more challenging for him. We don’t have to try to do too much since he can finish this work next year. As he finishes a class, we will go to the next grade and have him start.
Matthew does his art class activities on the whiteboard. I take pictures of the finished project and save it to my laptop for my records. His project this week was using primary colors to create secondary colors. He made a gumball machine with the different color gumballs. He had fun doing it and I think he did a good job.
Check out my meatloaf post and look at the pictures. Matthew took all of these. He’s really enjoying taking pictures and has taken some really nice ones of some of the flowers in our yard. Here are some of the pictures he has taken.
Soccer season is almost over. We won 2 and lost 3 in our regular season. We have a tournament coming up. Matthew really enjoys soccer and was our high scorer for the season. This was before his haircut. I really enjoy coaching his team.
Both kids got haircuts last week. I cut Ryleigh’s. I cut about 8 inches off of it and it is now shoulder length. She really likes it and her friends at school love it.
I took Matthew to a barber shop to get his cut. A gentleman sitting next to us waiting for his turn paid for Matthew’s haircut without me knowing. That was so sweet. I didn’t know until after he left and Matthew was in the chair. I didn’t get to thank him. Matthew loves his new haircut. He wanted the lightening bolts so I decided to try them since they weren’t too crazy. Pictures are before haircut, during and after.
As you can see, last week was busy. This week we are not as busy. Things are going smoothly and for the most part Matthew does his work without being told to do it. Now, if I could only get him to clean his room!!! Must be a 10 year old thing.
